Where is the origin of Stuxnet?
by Barbora Misakova

Being a hacker must be fun. And sometimes you can even feel like a “God”, especially when you succeed in attacking some important facilities. The latest malicious code, that shuffled the cards in the hackers’ world, called Stuxnet, was designed to go after several “high-value targets” at least according to Liam O Murchu, manager of security response operations at Symantec Corp. Creation of this code requires a team at least 5 highly educated hackers. Neither government experts, nor outside analysts were able to say who developed it and why. Malware which infected about 45,000 computer systems was apparently created to infiltrate into industrial! control plants. As Reuters informed, U.S. officials said that Stunex was the first malicious computer code specifically created to take over systems that control the inner workings of industrial plants. If such an attack was successful, it would result in catastrophic physical or property damage and loss, what is not very optimistic information for Iran, where are nearly 60 percent of the computers infected with Stuxnet. Indonesia represents 18 percent of infected computers, and remaining 2 percents are in the U.S. Such sophisticated code would not be easy for a normal group to put together. There are only three possibilities: “it was either a well-funded private entity or it was a government agency or state sponsored project” added O Murchu. That throws suspicion on China, Russia, Israel, Britain, Germany or the United States, but no clues pointing to a country of origin have been found so far.

Hackers attack France
by Zivka Deleva

New media and Internet has entered everywhere. If someone mentions an institution like the Ministry of foreign affairs, than at least for me, account on the blogging and social network like Twitter would be something surprising. But if you are a good hacker you can do that as well and write a message. Few days ago, French ministry of foreign affairs had some headache with this kind of problem. First, something surprised me in the whole news – ministry’s official Twitter account! Why a ministry needs such network? Nevertheless, let’s go back to what happened. So, a hacker has posted an embarrassing post on the Roma topics. France is being criticized of bein! g racial nation this last month by having the action of deporting hundreds of Roma into Romania and Bulgaria. The thing is that the tweet as the messages of this social networking are called, was very insulting about Roma and whoever wrote it, wanted to insult French politics. The massage has been available for readers about one hour, when it was removed, with the message that “their account has been hacked”. “We have deleted the message. We will take steps to ensure that this does not happen again” – that was the explanation. But, people don’t forget, and as far as millions of people use this site, almost 50.000 people saw the threat before it was removed. And normally, who would stand not to joke about it? Hundreds of tweets have arrived as an ironical reaction of people, making fun of the French Government. Twitter piracy is nothing new. As I said few days ago, on the subject of privacy on the net – it is so much relative and a! lmost doesn’t exist. Obama had the same situation, but t! he hacke r was caught and imprisoned.

Security almost doesn't exist on the Internet
by Zivka Deleva

Hackers from Europe have gathered in the Hungarian metropolis Budapest, on a two day conference discussing the increasingly sophisticated computer piracy. About five hundred computer experts came to Budapest and participated on the conference. About 30 different presentations of different researches have been presented, accenting the topics of the database protection by few software types. The truth is that such gatherings are very important, because they express how much computers and especially Internet has entered our everyday lives, how it influences on young people especially, in their social life and the more important in their development as persons. As US cyber sec! urity expert Bruce Schneier said “the Internet is the greatest generation gap since rock ’n’ roll””. I think this is one of the best definitions that have ever been thought of. "The older of us need to be prepared for a younger generation that lives life on the Internet, doesn't understand where their computer or smartphone ends and the Internet begins, shares passwords with their friends as a sign of trust and deliberately lies when registering for services" - Schneier pointed. Everybody agreed that security on the net is something like utopia today. The hackers’ abilities become more and more sophisticated, so now you just shouldn’t trust only to those security terms. Experts feared as well that the globally popular smartphones like iPhone and BlackBerry are very easily to be pirated with some programs or a type of a computer. There were also some practical demonstrations of what hackers can do.
